Ben and Kate and Foster, the only children on their road, declare war against the birds and beasts that steal the local corn. Together, they make super scarecrows. But all does not run smoothly. Ben thinks he should be in charge. Kate has other ideas. Foster gets side-tracked on a project of his own. Besides, someone else gets in on the act - no one knows who. And somehow the scarecrows take on a life of their own. As the season runs its course and the scarecrows mysteriously change, so do the children and some of their neighbors - in ways no one would have imagined.
