Architect and author, Joel Zack, and his team, traveled throughout Turkey and documented nearly 50 synagogues and former synagogues, resulting in this rich photographic collection. An exhibition of selected images traveled throughout the United States and was presented at the Topkapi Palace Museum in Istanbul. The text accompanying each photograph, as well as excerpts from diary entries, place these monuments in an historical and contemporary context. The text is in both English and Turkish.
