According to the editors of the revised second edition, "The measure of revision that we have carried through has been dictated by relevant facts. Dr. Price wrote originally in response to the dep stirring of interest aroused by publication of the American Standard Version [of the Bible]. Considerable material in his early chapters has thus lost the relevance it possessed at that time. The changes we have made will be most apparent at this point. Yet those familiar with the work in its earlier form will recognize the impulse of Dr. Price's thought throughout, and they will not read far until they come to authentic wording. It is still Dr, Price's book, in his characteristic presentation. The course of scholarship has, however, called for new chapters on textual criticism. Includes an Index.
