1 BUTLER, LIEUT.-COLONEL EWAN & BRADFORD, M.B.E., M.C., MAJOR J. SELBY. Keep The Memory Green: The First Of The Many - France 1939-40.
Hutchinson, London: 1950. Second Impression. h Hardcover with dustjacket. Good condition considering its age. There are some small tears in the dustjacket..
Ten years ago - in the last days of May and in early June 1940 - the British Expeditionary Force was, by the grace of Providence and by British valous, saved from annihiltion and brought home, through Dunkirk, to fight another day. The victories won by British arms in the years in which followed that great deliverance have made menforget those soldiers - upon whom it fell to withstand the shock of Hitler's great attack. It is now fitting that these men and their Commander-in-Chief, Lord Gort, should be worthilly remembered, and their story fully told, from those first landings in France, in the autumn of 1939, until the climax of Dunkirk. The authors, both professional writers, themselves served as officers with the B.E.F., and have recaptured the gallantry and comradeship of that little force.
