Acquaints college students with significant examples of nonfictional German prose published within the last hundred years. The collection contains letters, speeches, and one sermon, as well as essays in the humanities, the social sciences, and the physical sciences. All selections are unaltered, and most are unabridged. Whenever an abridgment has been made, the character and spirit of the original have been retained as far as possible.
