Heidi leaves her home in an Alpine valley to live with her bad-tempered grandfather in the mountains. Soon she grows to love the mountains, and all who meet her grow to love her. When she is sent to Frankfurt to act as companion to a crippled child called Clara, she is so unhappy that she is allowed to return to her beloved mountain home.
